Toy Poodle For Sale

Standard poodles, toy poodles, and miniature poodles are all different sizes of the same breed, so they’ll look very similar—except for their size. Toy poodles are smallest, standard poodle next biggest, and miniature last. Toy Poodle usually weight an average of 4-6 pounds, with height of 10-11 inches. Their average lifespan is around 10-18 years.

Poodles are most known for their curly fur coats. They don’t shed, which is ideal for people with allergies. Technically, they are not a hypoallergenic dog, but toy poodles come pretty darn close to qualifying.

Personality
Toy Poodles have an affectionate and devoted nature. They are extremely intelligent, highly trainable, and easily adapt to their environment. Toy Poodles crave attention from their owners and make excellent companions for almost anyone.

Temperament
Toy poodles are both devoted family pets and also known for loving attention, tricks, and walks. The Toy Poodle is an intelligent breed that is easy to train. They are eager to please, responsive, alert, sensitive, and lively. Some Toy Poodles may be shy around strangers while others might bark too much.

Training & Learning:
They’re excellent at following orders (obedience training) and will often times play with children for hours. However, if you leave them alone too much or don’t give them the attention they desire, they may begin to develop common stress behaviours associated with separation anxiety. It is advised that you start them young when it comes to dog training.

Caring For A Toy Poodle

Caring for a toy poodle

Food & Hydration:
Once Poodles reach the 3-month mark, they should be eating three meals per day in addition to snacks.

Toy Poodles and Miniatures generally do better when they have 2 or 3 meals a day. Standards can get away with only 1 meal per day, but many still benefit from having their food split up into two servings. You can also give your Poodle several snacks throughout the day, which is especially helpful if they are fast eaters.

Exercise:
The miniature and toy poodles are spunky dogs needing daily exercise; a walk at least twice per day for 30 minutes is ideal, but they also love longer walks up to an hour. If you’re active and enjoy sports, this pup might be the perfect match for you.

Grooming:
The biggest setback is going to be their grooming needs. That coat that is so shed-free and allergy-friendly is going to need regular brushing – ideally everyday. Because his hair curls in on itself, it’s extremely prone to matting and, if left unchecked, can cause skin infections and have to be shaved off entirely.

Aside from the brushing, poodles will need a bath and haircut every four to six weeks. Like all dogs, you’ll need to trim his nails regularly. Special attention should be paid to the ears, as their hair will grow up inside the ear canal, trapping wax and dirt and leading to infections.
